At the beginning of the month we were gifted with cold temperatures and powder snow. This offered amazing vistas of the snow capped mountains awash in light, whether it be from brilliant bluebird skies or pastel shades of rose and violet sunrises. This Japanese paper collage was inspired by those breathless early mornings.
The fragile rice papers in contrast to the sharp lines of mountain along with the haiku ‘Sleeping beauty rests/between snow laden valleys/pink slivers of dawn’ offer a tension that exists so fully in January. We are still in deep winter however this is a new year, potent with possibility while the earth sleeps. There is a whisper of growing light calling us forward to begin yet again and again.
LOL …back to the haiku !!! I was just thinking the other day about how much I enjoyed exchanging that barrage of haiku with you last summer ….missing talking to you immensely
