Intuitive Painting: Nourturing Our Creative Spirit

When we paint from our bodies an interesting thing happens. By the act of engaging we  allow the seeds of our creative spirit to flourish. As a result our sense of awareness expands. Perhaps we gaze into the face of a poppy, really noticing it’s fragile petals, the open yielding  face. It may take the form of appreciating a phrase from a book we’re reading, or in our own  writing.  We more readily stop to savor a line, roll  it around  as it resonates  inside of us.

This connection to the process is tangible. It is as though there is no separation between body and paper, the hand holding the brush and the image. I am especially grateful to witness  this connection in the studio. The spontaneous act of creating is a joy to watch unfold.                                            Jesse’s work posted by permission
